36th STREET GARDEN CENTER PLAZA

The Garden Center is a 12,000 square foot, mixed use development intended to support community live/work/rural gardening needs. Completed in 2007, it was awarded LEED Silver status. The mechanical portion of the rating accounted for 14 points, with 8 of them attributed to EA Credit 1 for energy performance. In achieving these points, the HVAC system incorporated an extensive natural ventilation (passive cooling) system, with R-410A a/c units and geothermal slab heat cascaded through the facility for zoning and controls. To supplement peak cooling load conditions, the system uses high-efficiency gas-fired R-410A packaged rooftop units with economizers
